Herb-Marinated Hanger Steak

Herb-Marinated Hanger Steak

Prep time: 10-15 minutes oven or 2-3 minutes microwave

Fun fact time, Fam! Did you know that hanger steak is also referred to as “butcher’s steak”? That’s because this tender, flavorful (often undervalued) cut has long been a fave amongst savvy industry pros who liked to keep it for themselves. Gotta love a perk of the job, amiright? And while we guess we could have hung on to this recipe for ourselves, you know well by now that the real perk of our job is getting to share this tastiness with all of you!

In your bag

  • Your steak, carrots & brown rice
  • Harissa aioli

At home

  • Microwave-safe plate and damp paper towel or casserole dish
  • Sharp knife & cutting board

How to prep:

Oven option:

  1. Preheat your oven to 375F.
  2. Arrange your steak, carrots and rice side by side in your casserole dish. Drizzle 2 teaspoons of water over the rice, and pop your dish in the oven for 10-15  minutes.
  3. Let your steak rest briefly before slicing.
  4. Grab your cutting board and knife, then cut your steak into half-inch thick slices, cutting against the grain.

Microwave option (Warning! It’s very easy to overcook your steak in the microwave. Please proceed with caution):

  1. Add steak, carrots, and rice side by side on a microwave-safe plate.
  2. Add a splash of water to the rice, cover everything with a damp paper towel, and microwave in 30 second increments, flipping the steak each time, until warmed to your liking!
  3. Rest your steak briefly, then use your cutting board and knife to cut into ½ inch thick slices against the grain.

Arrange everything together on a plate to serve. Grab your aioli–lightly drizzle it on or use as a dipping sauce–and enjoy!

That’s it! #Dinnersolved, dinner served.
